Seborrheic Dermatitis
The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is unknown, but it is thought to result from a combination of factors, including genetics, yeast naturally present on the skin, stress, chemical irritants, and/or dry, cold weather that triggers the skin to produce excess oil.

What is

Seborrheic Dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common, chronic skin condition that causes red, inflamed, flaky, and sometimes itchy patches of skin. It typically affects areas with a high concentration of sebaceous (oil) glands, such as the scalp, face, chest, and upper back. The condition is often associated with the presence of a type of yeast called Malassezia, which is found on the skin and may contribute to irritation when it overgrows.
